Playing Poker for Liverpool Tickets
Liverpool is by far my favorite team and I always love to go see the games. This time I wanted to bring my girlfriend. We'd only been dating a few weeks, but she had never seen Liverpool play and I thought it would be a great opportunity to expose her to something new.
One problem, though. All the Liverpool tickets were sold out. I wasn't going to be deterred, however. I wanted to go to the game and I definitely didn't want to let my girlfriend down.
First person I tried was my friend. He generally bought a spare pair of tickets to almost every game so he could hand them out or get friends to go with him. I stopped by his apartment that evening and asked if he had any tickets. Unfortunately, it didn't work out. He had apparently lost his extra pair of Liverpool tickets in a poker game.
He told me that his buddy was holding another game tonight and I could try to get into the game to win the tickets. We went over to the guy's house and proceeded to enter the game. Now, I'm not the best poker player by a long shot, but I was having the worst night of my life. I was down what I would've paid for four tickets and almost out of money.
Pretty soon, the guy put the Liverpool tickets in the pot. This was going to be my last hand otherwise I wouldn't have even been able to make rent. I got my cards and a brief smile went over my face before I caught myself. I had three pair of queens. When it came my time to draw cards, I got another one. This was my lucky night.
I ended up winning the hand and got the Liverpool tickets. Although I was down some money I ended up with the tickets and was going to be able to bring my girlfriend to the game.
